Food Access
Nearly 13% of Canadians have inadequate or insecure access to healthy, fresh food, especially fruits and vegetables due to financial constraints. Additionally, limited access to supermarkets and farms in some urban areas and rural communities makes access to fresh produce nearly impossible.
Now, with advances in hydroponic farming and small-footprint container farms, we can bring fresh food to these food deserts. We only need 500 square feet of flat land to grow 2.5 acres worth of food, making it possible to provide fresh and nutritious produce where it’s needed most.
